Condolence & Memory Journal

I attended Notre Dame College and lived in a dorm for two years with Sr Lorraine as our house director. We had many good times. I fondly remember her cat, Blackie, who loved to sleep on my bed. She lived a full life and touched the lives of many.

Sister Lorraine is a good friend of mine. We met through playing tennis. We played together for several years on and off.

Lorraine was a strong local tennis player and was very competitive on the court.

We sometimes played mixed doubles as partners. One time, I believe after having won an important point, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her rosary beads to show me. We just laughed...

We all make shaky line calls on occasion in tennis.

When Lorraine would make a questionable out call, oftentimes our opponent would anguish with even thinking to question a nun, probably thinking why decrease your chances of going to heaven? And Lorraine would seem to relish in these moments.

Sometimes after playing tennis we would go out for something to eat. And others who did not know her would ask me quietly if it is ok to order a beer with Sister Lorraine present. But Lorraine would be the first to ask if we're going to have a beer.

We had many good times together.

We played a few mixed doubles tennis tournaments and we became ranked in the top few in NH one year.

Lorraine was very supportive in others' times of difficulty and would let us know she would pray for us. And we knew she would. It was comforting.

As always, when a friend passes on from this life, I am reminded of how precious and fragile life is.

I now wish I had spent more time with Lorraine.

Dear Lorraine, Thank you for your special friendship, for all you did for me and for others and I hope we meet again.

Requiescat in pace dear classmate (1957).
You were always admired by everyone who knew you.

Rest In Peace Lorraine, you were a wonderful customer at Billy's Restaurant for so many years, bringing your Mother in until the ripe age of 98.
You are with her now, and all the other angels ! Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.

Sr. Lorraine, rest in peace. You made a significant impact on our students. Once they took your introduction to microbiology they were hooked and took all your micro courses. You will be missed.

Rest in peace Lorraine. I will always remember how kind she was in helping me through a difficult time in my life. I never expected a colleague to be so giving and empathetic as to check in on me in the hospital after I had an anxiety attack. She will be missed.

You were my best friend and daily tennis partner all through my teen years. What laughter we shared!
Thanks, Deuce for all that you were to me.

Sympathies to her family, sisters and friends..Sr. Lorroaine was a good college friend and a good athlete. She was very bright and liked to laugh. We had lots of fun running around in her jalopy, going to the red arrow on Webster st and to her parents house for meals. I remember that she smoked and she and the other few smokers used to stuff themselves into her car between classes. She was also a very good Microbiology teacher, as noted by her former students. Always an athlete, she played softball into her forties and often we would meet. We think of you often, Deuce and are praying for you. Arlene and Uke D.
