There are no words that could possibly explain how sorry I am. I'm continually praying for your family. Tyler's easy smile and kind heart are what I remember most about him. I remember that one of the first times he came over to our house I quickly learned how funny he was. After eating 2 servings of lunch, snacks and a dessert or two, he patted his probably 10 year old stomach and looked up with this adorable smile said something like, "that was so good, I'm getting a little full but I can probably fit more in if it would make you happy". He was one of the few friends that any of my children brought over who would talk as easily to adults as he did his peers, and he could easily make all of us laugh. He will forever be in my memory and my he rest in peace.

My journey with Tyler began at Hampton Beach. We had a place on L Street and my entire extended family was there for the weekend. Tom invited Pam and her two young children; a daring undertaking as we are a loud and silly bunch. We loved to be together skiing, camping, L Street get togethers, and most recently a week retreat at Lovel Lake. It was a wonderful experience to watch our children form bonds that I hoped would last forever. The kids had a great time at the beach, arcades and boardwalk. Katie and Tyler got more comfortable as the weekend went on, and enjoyed every childish delight. It was early evening and we had gathered on the front porch as we did most nights. There was a buzz of multiple conversations, children sitting for a while then dashing away to find more entertaining pursuits. Tyler sat and listened for a long while enjoying the adult banter. He waited for a pause in the chatter, and with a wide smile he asked can I call you Uncle Dale? Before I could answer, Pam stood and quickly explained to ask such a question would require a familiarity that did not yet exist. He still gave me his full attention, waiting for my reply.
As Pam turned to sit back down, I gave Tyler a wink and a head nod. His smile now a sheepish grin, and his eyes slowly drifted to the porch floor, he did not want to give away our first secret. He also found a partner to challenge not-so-useful social norms. He had a new tribe and I am forever his Uncle Dale.

The impact that Tyler left in my life and those around him will never go unnoticed. I will always cherish the adventures we got to go on together, the days we just sat in the car and jammed out to music and the endless amount of monster we drank. I will never forget the joy he brought into my family's life and will forever be grateful he shared a piece of his life with me. My condolences go out to his family. May he rest in the sweetest of peace.
