Obituary for Charles "Frank" Yanco

May 17, 1932 - August 24, 2018
Manchester, New Hampshire | Age 86

Charles "Frank" Yanco, 86, passed away surrounded by family on August 24th at VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH.

Mr. Yanco was born on May 17, 1932 in Boston, MA to the late Albert and Norma Yanco, attended Northeastern University, and served four years in the United States Air Force.

Frank was a well-known Manchester businessman with a long career as an automobile dealer (Frank Yanco's Queen City Toyota and Pontiac Cadillac) and a profound history of community service. Involved in numerous aspects of the automobile industry, he served on various boards and committees, both local and national, and received numerous awards of recognition for his business and civic achievements, notably including Time Magazine's Quality Dealer Award.

He served on boards of trustees for the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Greater Manchester Development Corp., Manchester Boys and Girls Club, Manchester Historical Society, NH Vocational Technical Institute, and Catholic Charities. He served as Board Chair of Easter Seals NH and was a past president of the Manchester Rotary Club.

During his years of service, he won many awards and accolades, including the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Daniel Webster Council and Eugene Van Loan III Leadership Award from Easter Seals NH.

Of all his accomplishments, his greatest legacy is all he did for those in need; for this, above all, his family is most proud.

Frank loved to travel and saw much of the world. He loved the ocean, had a passion for sailing, and was a top-notch navigator. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife and family and recently had the pleasure of seeing everyone together for a family reunion in honor of their 65th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years; his best friend and partner in crime, Margaret (Peggy) Yanco. He leaves behind a small army that will miss him terribly, including his eight children and their spouses: Lauren Cotter and companion Trent August, James and Colleen Yanco, Elizabeth and Kerry Finnigan, Eileen (Frank's favorite) and William Tetu, Harry and Kelly Yanco, MJ Blanchette and Brian Cox, Christopher and Amy West-Yanco, and Jennifer Harrises and her former husband and close friend, Steve Harrises; 13 grandchildren: Heather Capelli, Michael Cotter, Christoper Cotter, Christy Yanco, Lindsay Yanco, Tori Yanco, Maeghan Finnigan, Julia Finnigan, Hannah Finnigan, Sarah Yanco, Maddison Yanco, Emily Harrises and Alec Harrises; 12 great-grandchildren: Elise Capelli, Gavin Capelli, Sofia Spotts, Frankie Webster, Finn Webster, Lettie Webster, Kaden Morehead, Kyndall Morehead, Michael-David Cotter, Jaydin Nelson and Alexandria Nelson.

Frank is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Richard and Joanne Yanco, Philip and Christine Yanco and Edward Yanco, all of Nashua, NH, and is predeceased by his brother, William Yanco.

The family would like to thank the staff at Catholic Medical Center for the outstanding clinical skill and genuine kindness shown to Frank and his family.
