Obituary

Ernest L. Dugas, 95, of Manchester, died August 1st, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving daughters.
Born in Manchester on April 27, 1923, he was the son of Arthur and Blanche Dugas. He grew up in Concord and graduated from Concord High School in 1942 and from Franklin Technical Institute in 1948 with a degree in engineering. From 1942 to 1946 he enlisted in the Naval aviation flight training program and received his pilot wings and officer commission. He served in the military service during WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War. In 1968 he retired as lieutenant commander with 26 years of military service. His last military assignment prior to retirement was director of training for the Naval Officer Candidate School at Newport, RI.
Upon retiring from military service, he joined his brothers in the construction business. He later worked in the real estate business until his full retirement in 1988.
Ernest was a charter member of the WWII Memorial in Washington DC, a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Manchester, a member of the American Legion Post 79, a member of the NH Air Force Association as well as a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a charter member of the Rockwood Yankee Travel Club and served as the club's vice president and president.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary E. (Morrison) Dugas in 1987 and by one daughter, Kimberly Goss in 1989.
Family members include his daughters Linda Mistretta, Stephanie Dugas and Alison Guasch and grandsons Ryan and Ethan.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Road, Bedford. Burial with military honors followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
