Obituary

Helen Barbara (Kilar) Albrewczynski, 92, died June 3, 2017, at home after a brief illness.
Born on April 25, 1925, in Bedford, NH, she was the daughter of Walenty and Mary (Kwiatkowski) Kilar. She attended Bedford schools, West High School, and Hesser Business School.
Helen is the widow of the late Thaddeus J. Albrewczynski with whom she enjoyed 33 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Lacombe of St. Thomas, V.I., Julie Barnea of San Jose, CA, and Diane Albrewczynski of Worcester, MA; as well as their respective husbands and her four grandchildren, Elizabeth Lacombe, Kaitlin Barnea, Christine and Clara Jane Hickman.
After retiring from the Manchester Union Leader in 1990, she enjoyed volunteering at the Elliot Hospital, traveling, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was also a longtime communicant of St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church and an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen was an avid reader, interested in politics and current events, and had a great respect and appreciation for nature. She valued independence, responsibility, and a strong work ethic.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, June 12, 2017 at St. Hedwig Church, corner of Orange and Beech Streets, Manchester. Burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation (4 Elliot Way, Suite 301, Manchester, NH 03103-3599) or a worthy cause or charity of your choice.
The family is very grateful to the staff of the Elliot Hospital for their kind services throughout the years, with special mention to Dr. Carl Fier, Dr. Jennifer Wise, and Dr. Brett Simpson.
To honor her memory, you should spend a nice day outside – in your garden, at the beach, or on a picnic.
