Obituary for Jeannette L. Clemons

September 9, 1953 - December 18, 2020
Bedford, New Hampshire | Age 67

Jeannette L. Clemons, 67, of Bedford, died December 18, 2020, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, after a long battle against leukemia.
Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on September 9, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Gloria (Patton) Lamy. Jeannette grew up in San Jose, California, where she graduated from Camden High School. She attended San Jose State University and then received her undergraduate degree from State University of NY at New Paltz. She received her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in 1990, and served in the US Navy for almost 30 years before retiring at the rank of Commander in 2005. She worked for many years as a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist before retiring in 2015.
Jeannette had a passion for music. She was a professional flute player, and was proud to be one of the first female musicians in the US Navy band. She and her husband, Peter, played in the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, she an oboist, and Peter a bassoonist.
Jeannette loved nature and was an avid gardener. She took pride in learning the microclimates and drainage differences in her yard and planting separate mini gardens throughout the area. She spent many hours enjoying the garden with her beloved poodles, and sorely missed being able to work outside the last year of her life. She loved hiking and travel, and looked forward to the yearly trips to Acadia National Park she and Peter took together.
Jeannette was extremely bright and very kind. She was interested in absolutely everything and was a voracious reader, educating herself on a wide range of subjects including the sciences, religion, literature, and her love of textiles and historical fashions. She was always available to support her family and friends with constant love and information gathering as needed.
Jeannette was constantly learning, changing, and adapting. As her life progressed through careers as musician, physician, and psychiatrist, she also personally embraced the tenets of Judaism. She embarked upon each new adventure with enthusiasm, while remaining passionate about her people, her dogs, and her garden. Jeannette made lifelong friends wherever her travels took her, and she was very loved by many. Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and devotee of all dogs.

Surviving family members include her husband of over 30 years, Peter M. Clemons of Bedford, NH; four siblings: Diane Deuchar and husband Don of CA, Bryan Lamy of AZ, Greg Lamy and wife Annie of CA, and Andrew Lamy and wife Cindy of NJ; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
