Obituary for John M. Longval

February 17, 1949 - August 22, 2017
Lakeland, Florida | Age 68

John M. Longval, known as Beepa to those who loved him, 68, of Lakeland FL, formerly of Goffstown, died suddenly August 22, 2017, at his residence. He was born in Manchester on February 17, 1949, the son of John and Shirley (Crawford) Longval. He was a graduate of Manchester High School West, and until retiring with his wife Sandy to Florida last summer, was a lifelong resident of the area. John served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1968. For his service, he was recognized with the Vietnam Medal, a Bronze star, and The National Defense Service Medal. He was proud to be a member of the Cypress Lake Veterans Association. Prior to his retirement in 2016, John's career was in lumber sales for Belletetes, Steenbeke and Sons, and Sundeen Lumber. He loved playing golf, his afternoon naps and baking cookies for his grandchildren. He enjoyed tinkering and puttering around the house, and was always keeping busy with Sandy's projects. John loved to tell stories to all of his friends and he made friends everywhere he went. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. John was always ready to crack a joke and have a laugh with his family and friends. His generosity, whether it was the cookies he baked or the Dunkin' Donuts coffee and treats he brought his family at the crack of dawn, will be something they will lovingly remember about Beepa. Family includes his beloved wife of 46 years, Sandra M. (Fitchett) Longval of Lakeland, FL; two daughters, Jenniffer Daigle and husband Kevin of Goffstown, and Elizabeth Small and husband Brian of Apex, NC; five grandchildren, Trevor and Evan Daigle of Goffstown, and Tori, Cameron, and Emily Small of Apex, NC; four sisters, Maggie Smith and husband Kazan Mohrs of CA, Patricia Longval of Allenstown, Mary Olson and husband Dan of Bedford, and Ruth Amaya of Allenstown as well as sister-in-law, Jean Longval of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
