Obituary

Laurette E. (Bourque) Major, 95, of Manchester, died July 25, 2018 at the Courville at Manchester after a period of declining health.

She was born in Manchester on October 12, 1922 to Arsene and Josephine (Martineau) Bourque. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

In her younger years, she worked for Dorson-Fleisher Shoe Company then spent many years raising a family of five children. During that time she was active with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Laurette was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1624 and Les Dames de St. Anne at the former St. Jean the Baptist Church, now Parish of the Transfiguration. She volunteered over 4000 hours at the VA Hospital in Manchester and was recognized by the American Red Cross for frequently donating blood.

She enjoyed traveling and bowling and was a wonderful seamstress.

She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Roger J. Major earlier this year; five siblings, Réal, Bourque, Roger Bourque, Yvette Asselin, Rita Collins and Lucienne Proulx; and a son-in-law, Richard Dubois.

The family includes five children, Muriel Dubois of Bedford, William Major and wife, Barbara and Richard Major and wife, Nadere, all of Salisbury, Daniel Major and wife, Barbara, of Cheyenne, WY and Marie-Ann Demchak and husband, Richard, of Allenstown; 11 grandchildren, Aimée, Aaron, Craig, Joel, Steve, Elise, Shane, Renée, Ryan, Jakob and Erik; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Sean, Emile, Julia, Lauren, Liliane and soon to be born, Samira; a sister, Therese Gagnon of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Courville at Manchester for the loving care they provided to their mother. Thanks also go to the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for all their support.

A funeral ceremony was held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Private burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.
