Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" Philbrook, 83, of Manchester, died March 15, 2022 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital from injuries received from an automobile accident in Alton.

He was born in Dover-Foxcroft, ME on January 17, 1939 to Edgar and Harriette (Dwyer) Philbrook. He lived in Manchester for most of his life.

He served in the U.S. Army in 1956 and 1957 as well as in the National Guard for many years afterward.

Bob worked at Foster Grant for many years. He was a member and historian for the American Legion Jutras Post. He was very active and helpful to other veterans, assisting them in obtaining their VA benefits and volunteering at VA bingo events. He also had a patriotic passion for our National flag and took great care to help others replace worn flags with new ones that he provided to friends and others.

He loved camping and hiking and was a great outdoor cook. He also loved his dog, Spunky, as well. He had a passion for repairing and maintaining small engines and with the help of friends and family he built a nice camp house in Ossipee that he enjoyed very much.

He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Joan Philbrook and five siblings, Yvonne McLaughlin, Elaine Gilmore, Jane Betts, Mark Philbrook and Louis Philbrook.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra L. (Robitaille) Philbrook of Manchester; two children, Janice Lachance and her husband, Robert Joseph, of Manchester and Robert Philbrook, Jr. of Goffstown; three grandchildren, Sara Lachance, Meagan Peterson and Gavin Philbrook; a great granddaughter, Clarisse Timko and was awaiting the arrival of a second great granddaughter; and two nieces
