Susan T. (Provencher) Legendre, 64, of Laconia, died February 28, 2017 at the Hyder Hospice House in Dover surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Manchester on February 27, 1953, she was the daughter of Herve L. and Claire (Gill) Provencher. She attended St Marie Grammar School and graduated from St Marie High School. She earned her nursing degree from the Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing and her bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State College in Denver. She continued her education at Simmons College and later received a master's degree from Harvard University.
Her career started as the Assistant Director of Occupational Health Nursing at Harvard School of Public Health. She received numerous awards and recognition throughout her life from various Occupational Health boards that she sat on and chaired. She was recognized for 35 years of outstanding service and dedication to her profession and received the prestigious 2016 Dorothy Reid Lifetime Achievement Award from the Northeast Association of Occupational Health Nurses.
She will be remembered as a great listener which provided her numerous siblings, husband and kids the chance to go to her for help and a guiding hand. She loved people and enjoyed many social activities including boating, hiking in the mountains, swimming in the lakes and ocean, walking, biking and camping. Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and cherished friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 42 years, Roger Legendre of Laconia; her daughters, Beth MacDonald, her husband Bob and their daughter Claire, all of Portsmouth, Valerie Feghali and husband Farid of Saco, ME; her mother, Claire Provencher of Manchester; her siblings, Richard Provencher and wife Vivian of Manchester, Helen Garvey and husband Neil of Rye, Gloria Baldwin and husband Skip of Vernon, VT, Marc Provencher and wife Suzanne of Manchester, Irene Koffink and husband Bob of Goffstown; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in St Marie Church. Committal prayers followed in Mt Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
